The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 90,000-acre (360 km2) not-for-profit wildlife conservancy in Central Kenya’s Laikipia County. It is situated on the equator west of Nanyuki, between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy works to conserve wildlife, provide a sanctuary for great apes and to generate income through wildlife tourism and complementary enterprises for re-investment in conservation and community development.

Northern White Rhinos on Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Sweetwaters chimp sanctuary and Ol Pejeta wildlife conservancy are located some 200km north of Nairobi in Nanyuki area. The chimp orphanage is located inside the Ol Pejeta wildlife conservancy which is a great success story of a black and white rhino conservation. There are more than 110 critically endangered black rhinos and the only place in the world to find the only two left northern white rhinos named Najin and fatu.

Ol Pejeta also has a rhino memorial located at the east of the conservancy which commemorates all the rhinos that have been killed by the poaching epidemic that has been a challenge to the conservation efforts of the conservancy.
